A new ‘Exponential Carbon Roadmap 1.5‘ provides 36 solutions for cutting global greenhouse gas emissions by 50% over the next decade, and each successive decade thereafter. Timed to stimulate debate and action at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York, the roadmap sets out a comprehensive, challenging but achievable programme of action for staying on track with the 1.5°C ambition of the Paris Climate Agreement. It argues that the 2020s has the potential to see the fastest economic transition in history. The SILCI project’s Charlie Wilson was involved as a co-author and thinks the roadmap makes it very clear what needs to be done over the next 10 years … starting now.
