Distributed & Digitalised Demand – The 3Ds of Clean Energy Transitions

Charlie Wilson participated in an online conference hosted by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) as part of the Clean Energy Ministerial process launched alongside the Paris Climate Agreement. Due to take place in Berlin from March 25-27, the ‘International Forum on Long-Term Energy Scenarios’ was hastily converted to a virtual format – one of many reminders of how integral digitalisation has become to our ways of life. Charlie presented new research from the SILCI project on the potential impact on energy use and emissions from low-carbon consumer innovations in mobility, homes and energy domains. You can download a copy of Charlie’s slides here and listen in to Charlie’s talk on YouTube here. As digital innovations creep become ever more embedded in how we get around, live at home, and consume energy resources, the SILCI team is working to understand how this will help or hinder progress towards net-zero emissions.
